Hand-carved and painted owl wall sculptures
The exposed wood grain is symmetrical on wings, body and tail. This, combined with pigment mimics plumage patterns. I have spent years of experimentation to achieve this result. The grain on this photo is more subtle to reflect a Barn Owl.
This owl wall sculpture is very advanced both in terms of technology and form. It does look like an owl soaring into the sky.
Every detail of this owl was carefully sculpted by me.The wood used for carving is basswood from the Coastal Plain of North Carolina, and one of the main advantages of basswood is its renowned softness. This property makes it very easy to carve and shape. I carve, scrub, clean, sand (if necessary) and seal the basswood with a high quality finish to preserve its beauty.
It's a hybrid of traditional and advanced making technologies. The part is the very numerous wing feathers, which are coated with a beautiful copper veneer patina.
This kind of wall decoration is very suitable whether it is given to others as birthday and holiday gifts or to decorate your own walls.
